Advantages

Lowest water absorption approximately 2% at saturation hence good dimensional stability and electrical properties. Tougher than Nylon 11 and Very flexible grades available.

Disadvantages

Expensive. Lowest strength and heat resistance of any Polyamide unmodified generic.

Polymer Type

Thermoplastic

Advantages

Good rigidity, tensile strength, creep resistance, heat distortion temperature and impact properties. Low mould shrinkage and good dimensional stability compared with unmodified PA 12.

Disadvantages

Brittle, low elongation at break and low impact strength compared with unmodified PA 12. Mechanical properties of moulding can be highly anisotropic.
